SFC Jeremiah Wayne Johnson

Jeremiah "JW" Wayne Johnson, 39, was born December 6th, 1977 in New Bern, North Carolina; he passed away October 4th, 2017 while serving in Niger, Africa. Jeremiah was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC with the 3rd Special Forces Group as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Specialist.

Jeremiah was a loyal man who loved his family, country, and friends. He was a man of many talents, he enjoyed working on and riding motorcycles, forging and customizing knives, smoking cigars and his tobacco pipe, and enjoying the outdoors with his family.

He graduated in 1996 from North Stafford High School in Stafford, Va. After High School he owned and operated a successful business until he joined the Army in 2007. He attended OSUT training at Fort Leonardwood, MO, then he completed Airborne school at Fort Benning, GA. His first duty assignment was Fort Hood, TX, with the 181st Chemical Company, 2nd Chemical Battalion. He was later assigned to Charlie Company, 22nd Chemical Battalion, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, before being stationed at Fort Bragg in 2013.

Jeremiah is survived by his wife of 15 years Crystal, his two daughters Addie and Elisa, his parents J.W. Johnson and JoAnn Johnson, Debbie and Ray Gannon, and his sister Jennifer Johnson. He also leaves behind his step-brothers Ben Powers, Tiff Gannon, Michael Gannon, and his step-sister Jennifer Gannon.
